Bessie Hiveley

Bessie Hiveley, 86, of Lehigh, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Stratford Special Care in Stratford, Iowa. Visitation will be at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 1:00 – 1:45 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, with burial at Washington Township Cemetery, in Duncombe, IA.

Bessie was born on March 1, 1935, to Paul and Alta (Ripley) Patet, at Grantsburg, WI. She attended first grade at Danbury, WI and Kansas City, MO, second and third grades at a country school near Rice Lake, WI, and then 4th thru 12th grade at Solon Springs WI, graduating in 1953. She attended summer school at a vocational school in Superior WI, and after that she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth for two years before her marriage to Wayne Walter Hiveley on July 16, 1955, at her foster parents (The William Edward Coopers) in Solon Springs, WI. The couple lived in rural Lehigh all of their married life. Bessie enjoyed gardening, flowers and working on crossword puzzles.

Bessie’s family includes her son Steve (Denise), two grandchildren: Ken (Courtney) Hiveley, and Erin (Adam) Brown; 6 great-grandchildren: Aliyah, Gia, Aiden, Ella, Vivienne, and Evan.
