David Robert Doerr

David Doerr, 52, of Webster City, Died Saturday at the Iowa Methodist Hospital.  Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 8, at 1:00 PM at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with public invited to an 11:30 am lunch before the service.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7PM at the Boman Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be Friday 10 AM at the Hillsboro, IA Baptist Church.

David was born on January 9, 1960, in Bowdle, South Dakota to Bob and Priscilla (Rathke) Doerr.  He attended Bowdle Elementary School, Simmons Jr. High School and graduated in 1978 from Aberdeen Central High School.  Dave attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, graduated from Northern State College in 1984 with a BME, He also attended the former North American Baptist Seminary (now Sioux Falls Seminary) where he earned his Masters of Divinity in May of 1988.  Dave married Dawn M Damm of Trent SD on July 2, 1988 at First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, SD.  He entered the US Army through the SD National Guard serving at Ft. Dix, NJ before medical discharge due to ankle injury.

He served churches and communities in Dell Rapids, SD, Humeston and Cambria, IA, Hillsboro and rural Bonaparte, IA and Webster City and Mackey, IA.  He was a member of Iowa Critical Incident Stress Network, Mid-American Baptist Minister’s Council, and Nurturing Professional Leadership Team of MABC.  Dave was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster City Iowa.  He enjoyed music and played the trombone.

Dave enjoyed community life and helping young people achieve their potential. Dave’s family included:  wife Dawn; furchild Theo; faux daughter Becca of Hillsboro, Iowa; AFS daughter Nuka of Nuuk Greenland; Mother Pat Doerr of Rapid City, SD; brother Tim Doerr of Aberdeen, SD; sister and brother–in-law LeAnn and Mel Burdick of Wichita, KS; grandfather John Rathke of Pierre, SD; nieces and nephews:  Kalena (Jesse), Amanda (Jake), Jessica (Cody), Jenny, Lyndsey, Colton, Dylan, Jayme, Lexi, Alyssa, and Xavier.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Jacob and Rosina (Fischer) Doerr, grandmother Hilda (Fischer) Rathke, and his father Robert Doerr.
