Florence Marie Brown, 98, of Webster City died at her home on March 17, 2018. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 5-7 PM at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com). Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, in Webster City.

Florence was born on a farm near Callender, Iowa on July 18, 1919, to Pete and Ellen Anderson Swanson. She was baptized at the age of three months into the Lutheran faith by the Rev. J.J. Lee.

Florence was married on July 24, 1938, to C. Marvin Brown of Webster City, Iowa. She became a member of the Church of Christ and baptized into the Church by Rev. Dewy Kooy. She was an active member of the church. She served as a deaconess for three years, taught Sunday School for 13 ½ years. She was also Women’s Fellowship Circle Chairman.

Florence also held positions in other organizations, such as President of the PTA, and Past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge. She and Marvin belonged to several other organizations which they enjoyed with their friends.

After Marvin’s retirement, they spent 19 winters in Arizona. She continued to spend her winters in Arizona until 2017. Florence volunteered for 18 years in the Post Office in the court where they lived.

Florence is survived by her son Chuck (Marlene) of Bend, Oregon; two grandchildren: Professor Chuck Brown III, of Reading, Pennsylvania and Wendy (Dave) Buck, of Bonney Lake, Washington; one great-grandson Michael Buck of Buckley, Washington; three step- grandchildren: Shirin Loshbaugh, BJ (Jackie) Loshbaugh, and Dawn (Fred) Dillworth; sister-in-law Arris Richardson; nieces and nephews: Marilyn Williams of Webster City, Pat and Norm Niemeyer of Fort Dodge, Kathy Nelson of Fort Dodge, Jack and Karen Swanson or Fort Dodge, William and Carol Swanson of Iowa City, Ernie Swanson of Barnum, Iowa and Donna Swanson of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; her parents; one sister and two brothers.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local Hospice.
