Kay Angstrom

Kay Angstrom of Ames, Iowa, was taken to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Visitation will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Webster City, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by the service at 11:00 am with Pastor Terry Davenport officiating. A lunch will follow the service with burial at South Marion Cemetery, southeast of Stratford. Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com), Webster City, is in charge of arrangements.

Kay was born on October 19, 1936, in Webster City, the daughter of Milton and Bertha Havinga Angstrom. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1954. Upon graduation, she was employed at the National Chiropractic Association in Webster City from 1955 to 1964. She then joined First State Bank in the bookkeeping department in Webster City from 1964 through her retirement in 1993.

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior on April 2, 1958. She was a devout and faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Webster City for many years. After moving to Ames ten years ago, she also was able to worship at Heartland Baptist Church at the Wednesday evening services or when the weather did not allow her to drive to Webster City on Sunday.

She had fond memories of the bus trips with her sister, Ardys, especially their month-long trip to Alaska. The meals at the Senior Citizens’ Center aways brought good conversation with friends. Watching for bargains on QVC was a favorite pastime of Kay’s the last few years. She loved communicating through her I-pad and I-phone. You could always count on Kay to bring her humor to the conversation.

She is survived by cousins, including Neal Heyer and his wife, who reside in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and special friends. Her church family meant so much to her as well as her Sunday dinner friends from church–Sharon Abbas, Bonnie Abbas, Valerie Monroe, and Laraine Crawford. After moving to Ames, Kay appreciated her friendship with Joy Pratt who introduced her to a regular walking routine for exercise, as well as enjoying conversation with a cup of Starbucks coffee. Also, they traveled and experienced new and exciting adventures, even a river boat cruise in Europe. Her special friends, Becky Hacker-Kluver and Jeff Kluver, were just like family to Kay. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Bertha, and her beloved sister, Ardys Angstrom.
