Rodney Scott Rouse, son of Victor and Eileen (Michael) Rouse, was born on April 5, 1959, in Estherville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Ayrshire Methodist Church. Rod grew up on his family’s century farm a few miles southeast of Ayrshire, Iowa. Rod’s childhood days were full of work and play, there was never a dull moment. Rod enjoyed working alongside his father on the farm and milking and raising Holstein dairy cows to show at the Palo Alto and Clay County Fair. Rod graduated in 1977 from Ayrshire Consolidated Schools.

On November 17, 1979, Rod was united in marriage to Althea Evans at the Ayrshire Methodist Church. To this union four children were born. Rod loved his family. He was always helping his children no matter what the project was or how difficult. He was always there even if it was just to talk. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren grow and hearing about what was going on in their lives. He was proud of their achievements and accomplishments.

Rod farmed into the early 90’s in the Ayrshire and Terril area. He moved to Webster City in 1996 where he became a successful master electrician starting his own business serving the Webster City area. Rod was a “jack of all trades.” His family will tell you he could do anything and did just about everything. He especially enjoyed working with and alongside his children.

Believe it or not, Rod did find time to relax and enjoy life. He enjoyed “sittin” on the back porch feeding birds, always wanting to fish just a little more, going back to the farm to work on different projects, tinker with the old tractors, and to reminisce was a favorite pastime. And how “bout” them Hawkeyes??

Rod’s greatest enjoyment was his time with his family. Whether it was in Webster City or Ayrshire. With his family is where he always wanted to be.

Rod passed away unexpectedly Tuesday November 23, 2021, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, Iowa. Rod was preceded in death by his granddaughter Halle Jade, his Father Victor Rouse, Uncle Leo Hansen, Uncle & Aunt Cyril (Junior) and Marylyn Rouse, Uncle & Aunt DeWayne and Jean Rouse.

Rod is survived by his wife, Althea, of Webster City, IA; his children, Jason (Emily) Rouse of Cumberland, IA; Wendy (Eric) Reiling of Lake View, IA; Jennifer (Paul) O’Brien of Webster City, IA and Amber (Eric) Crandall of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren. His mother, Eileen Rouse, of Ayrshire; his sisters, Vicki (Greg) Egland, of Cylinder, IA; Sherry Rouse, of Johnston, IA; Lori (Roger) Williamson, of Ruthven, IA; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
