Stephen Lee Miller of Stanton, CA (formerly of Algona) passed on April 19, 2009.
Steve was born Sept. 28, 1943 in Williamsburg, VA. The family relocated to Algona in 1957, where Steve was active in high school sports, loved to fish, hunt & golf. He graduated from Algona High School in 1961 and joined the Navy where he was a fighter plane mechanic.
After the Navy, Steve returned to Iowa, where he became a bricklayer, which was to become his life-long trade, eventually becoming a building inspector for the City of Los Angeles.
Steve is survived by his parents, Maynard and Arlene Miller of Webster City (formerly of Algona), his two sisters; Marsha (John) Motter of St. George, UT, and Cyndee (Fran) Ruglouski of Pittsburgh, PA, three children; son David (Kris) Miller of Algona, son Scott (Sara) Miller of Des Moines, daughter Stephanie (Mike) Rooney of Algona, and step-daughter Sabrina Killeen of Nashville, TN, a wife Sherri of Stanton, CA, nine grandchildren; Jarrod, Casey, Daniel, Colton, Maddie, Jase, Samuel, Noah & Scotland. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & friends left to cherish his memory.
Steve's ashes will be interred at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA. A celebration of Steve's life will be held April 25, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Gathering Room at the AmericInn in Algona for family & friends wishing to honor Steve's memory.
