Amelia Schweertman, 77, of Webster City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to assist with their arrangements.
Amelia was born on December 2, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Eugen and Mary (Myers) Messerly. She attended school in Fort Dodge and was united in marriage to Elvin Johnson, Sr., in 1964; the couple later divorced. In 1970, Amelia married Herman Schweertman, with whom she shared her life until his passing in 2006. She worked cleaning business offices and homes.
Amelia had a passion for crossword puzzles, camping, fishing, flower gardening, and spending time outdoors. She was a member of the Fort Dodge VFW Military Auxiliary and cherished her time with her children and family.
Amelias family includes her son Elvin (Robin) Johnson, of Webster City; grandsons: Brian Johnson of Fort Dodge, and Brady Johnson of Webster City; granddaughter: Amiee Kelly of Fort Dodge; three step-grandchildren Amanda (Jon) Eberle, of Webster City, Christina (Mike Storm of Webster City, and Tara (Jessie) Sweazy of Webster City; 14 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Cindy Timm of Webster City and Mary Annette Johnson of Longville, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; three brothers: Richard, James and Wilbert; daughter Robin in infancy; grandson Bobby Johnson; and brother-in-law Lloyd Timm.
