Bradley Lowell Mechaelsen, age 55, of Austin, died peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home following a yearlong battle with cancer.
Brad was born August 4, 1961 in Webster City, Iowa to Lowell and Patricia (Nelson) Mechaelsen. He graduated from Webster City High School. On November 13, 2014 he was united in marriage to Karen Marie Moe at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. Brad and Karen loved their church.
Brad worked at Quality Pork for eight years from 1991 to 1999. He enjoyed playing pool, darts and he loved spending time with his dog, Buddy.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Mechaelsen, Austin, MN; two daughters, Jessica McGilligan (Dustin Ewing), Des Moines, IA, Sierra Riley, Redwood Falls, MN; a granddaughter, Emmersyn, Des Moines, IA; his mother, Patricia Mechaelsen, Webster City, IA; his brother, Ben Mechaelsen, Webster City, IA; his mother-in-law, Barb McDermott, Oshkosh, WI; aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Mechaelsen; his father, Lowell Mechaelsen; and his beloved dog, Buddy.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Crane Community Chapel with Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA at a later date.
