Daryl Engstrom, 80, of Stratford, Iowa died at his home on Friday, January 22, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday January 25, 2021 at the Mineral Ridge Cemetery, in Boone County, Iowa. A virtual service will be shared on Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) website in the near future. Daryl has always liked to do nice things for others, so in honor of that, the family requests that in Lieu of flowers please “pay it forward” and do something nice for someone else.

Daryl was born on October 13, 1940, to Lynn and Eleanor Engstrom, in Stratford, Iowa. After graduating high school in 1958 he started out renting farms, until he was able to purchase his own farm. Over the years he has farmed not only crops, but cattle, sheep, and pigs also. He married Jean Bennett 1965 in Dayton, Iowa.

Daryl was a member of the Co-op Board, the Development Corp in Stratford, Lions Club. He always had an interest in what was happening in Stratford, and was active in volunteering, wherever he could. He was also a member of the South Marion Methodist Church. Daryl has a great interest in the Heifer International project, and even donated several animals. He enjoyed watching the animals, and plants grow.

Daryl’s family includes his wife; daughter Emmaly (Scott) Burklund of West Des Moines; Son Anthony (Irish) Engstrom of Johnston, Iowa; grandchildren: Jordan Burklund, Brittany Burklund, and Morgan Lossner; great grandchildren: Camdon, Taylor and Afton Lossner; Brother Dean (Doris) Engstrom of Florida; and sister: Judy (Del) Denekas of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Anita; and grandson Brayden.
