Dean Norelius

Dean Norelius, 85 of Ankeny, Iowa, died on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines. Visitation will be at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 10:00-10:45 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Grave side service will be at 2:00 PM at the Kiron Cemetery, in Kiron Iowa.

Dean was born on July 19, 1938, in Kiron, Iowa to Quinton, and Pearl (Tripp) Norelius.  He graduated from Kiron High School in 1955.  Dean married Janet Schelldorf on January 15, 1955.  He served for seven years with the Iowa National Guard.

Dean worked for fifty years in agriculture related sales, for Jacques, Moews and PAG Seeds.  He also worked for Webster City O’Reilly Auto Parts for ten years.  Because of his success in seed corn sales, he and Janet were able to travel to Europe, Branson, MO, Florida, and Colorado.  Dean enjoyed Golfing, and Remote-controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Calhoun County Thunderbirds RC Club.  He also enjoyed having coffee with friends at the Webster City Hy-Vee.

Dean’s family includes his wife of 69 years; son Dan (Sherry) Norelius, of Ankeny; grandchildren:  Kathleen (Matthew) Schroeder of Elmherst, IL and Amanda (Kendall) Grieme of Ankeny, IA; and four great grandchildren:  Grace & Isla Schroeder and Carson & Maxwell Grieme.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister.
