Debora “Deb” Ann Thompson of Webster City, Iowa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2024. She was 69. A visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Missionary Alliance Church (501 3rd Street, Blairsburg, Iowa). The visitation will be from noon to 1:45 in the lower level of the church with the funeral to follow at 2:00. Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) is caring for the family’s needs.
Deb was born April 27, 1954, in Schaller, Iowa to Edward and Mary Jane (Thomson) Witte. Growing up, Deb was involved in 4H and participated in choir and school sports as a manager. She received the Iowa Bar Citizenship Award in 1972. She graduated from ICCC in Fashion Merchandising in 1974.
Deb committed her life to Jesus in 1973. She married Denis Thompson on December 14, 1975, in Schaller, Iowa. After marrying, and with their first pregnancy, doctors recommended terminating the pregnancy due to Deb’s health; however, she trusted in her Lord to sustain her. They went on to have three children: Hannah Elizabeth, Hope Esther, and Micah John.
Deb was faithfully involved in her church and started a missionary club alongside several other ladies, encouraging young people in the church to pray for and support local and international missionaries. Her ministry of hosting ladies’ bible studies, prayer ministry, and encouragement through writing cards uplifted so many people over the years.
Deb is survived by her husband Denis, children Hope (Nathan) Ribbey of Columbus, Ohio; and Micah (Mikayla) Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren Hannah, Amos, Kaela, Lilianne, and Gabriel. Deb is also survived by her brother, Scott (LaVonne) Witte of Rock Valley, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings Dean and Jean, daughter Hannah Elizabeth, and best friend, Lori Carlson.
Memorials made in honor of Deb will be distributed to the missionaries she prayed for regularly.
“Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious” (1 Peter 2:7a).
