Doris Daniels, 88, of Webster City, IA, passed away Wednesday June 2, 2010 at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. A visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 at the Boman Funeral Home in Webster City. www.bomanfh.com
Doris was born January 21, 1922 on a farm north of Stratford, IA, the daughter of William White & Betsey Mae Rose White. She attended Harmony School and graduated from Webster City High School in 1939. After attending W.C Junior College, she received a teaching certificate and taught several years in the rural schools of Hamilton County.
On June 2, 1945 she married Melvin Daniels at the Homer Methodist Church. They resided in Homer for several years then moved to Webster City. They had two daughters, Margaret & Jeanine.
Melvin & Doris taught kindergarten Sunday school at Asbury United Methodist Church for many years. Doris was involved in several church activities including the United Methodist Women, Pricilla Circle, and Women’s Bible Study. She belonged to several community groups including B.A.T.T.T. Society, Boone River Area Art Guild, & the Des Moines Art Center.
Her parents, husband & two sisters, Ruth Mary Dutcher & Jeanette Marie White preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters Margaret J. Daniels of Ames & Jeanine L. (Mike) Murray of Winterset; grandsons Jamie & Rachel Murray of Des Moines & Aaron & Darcy of Minneapolis; great granddaughter Ava Hope Murray of Des Moines; sisters Ellen Hansen of Dakota City, Donna & Melvin Longhenry of Webster City, Jeanine & Louis Smith of State Center; sister-in-laws Lillian Anderson & Pauline Harrison of Lehigh; & many nieces & nephews.
