Earl Hoversten, 90, of Webster City, died on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City. Services will be held at a later date. Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) is caring for the family’s needs.
Earl was born on December 8, 1935, in Williams, Iowa, to Willard and Mildred (Wilson) Hoversten. He attended Williams School and, following graduation, helped on the family farm. Earl was united in marriage to Dorothy Shattuck on April 4, 1964, at Mulberry Center Church. He worked for 35 years at Electrolux, retiring in 2000. During his time there, he spent most of his years working in the Press Department.
Earl had a huge garden and took great pleasure in sharing his fresh produce with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, but his favorite pastime was fishing. He fished both locally and in Minnesota and spent many hours ice fishing at Briggs Woods, where he could often be found at the “Hotel.” Earl was also an expert when it came to cleaning fish.
Earl’s family includes his wife of 62 years; children: Gary Hoversten of Webster City, Sandy (Marty) Price of Webster City, Tami (Jay) McCoy of Webster City, and Lisa Hoversten of Webster City; Six grandchildren: Austin Price, Ashley (Daniel) Hernandez, Holly Meyers, Amber Meyers, Trevor McCoy, and Tyler McCoy; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a grandson Ryan.
