Edward "Ed" Carr

Edward “Ed” Carr, 76, of Webster City, died on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Trinity Medical Center, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) in Webster City, IA. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 27, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Ed was born on January 28, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Ernest and Dorothy Carr. He grew up on a farm near Vincent, Iowa, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Ed worked in the trucking industry, preparing and loading drywall for shipment. He was first employed by Umtham Trucking and continued with Decker Trucking after their acquisition of the company.

Ed was a member of the American Legion post 191, and a long time Moose lodge member, where he often volunteered to do dishes. He enjoyed fishing in Iowa and Minnesota and walks with his grandchildren. One of his favorite traditions was the annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Knoxville, Iowa, where he and his family placed flowers on graves and attended the sprint car races.

Ed’s family includes his sons: Marvin (Stephanie) Carr, of Webster City, IA, and Steven Carr of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Allison, Kaitlin, Derek, Sarah, and Sean; sisters: Sharon O’Brien of Webster City, IA and Mary Davison, of Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Wayne (Mary), Albert Sr., and Marvin; sisters: Joyce and Betty; brother-in-law Kevin O’Brien; and nephew Darrel Daisy.
