H. Bruce Perry, 81, of Webster City, Iowa died at his home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Webster City, from 9:00 - 10:45 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM.  The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.  

 

Bruce was born on August 2, 1942, in rural Carbondale, Kansas, to William G. and Florence (Badger) Perry.  He grew up in Carbondale and graduated from Carbondale High School and then Kansas State University.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon K. Madden December of 1965, in Overbrook, Kansas.

 

Bruce conducted beef cattle research at KSU in Manhattan, and Mound Valley Kansas.  He managed feedlots in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.  He then worked at Land O Lakes Research Farm in Iowa doing livestock research.

 

He was a member of the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Webster City as served as a Stephen Minister for 12 years.  Bruce was also an active member of the Main Street Kiwanis, serving on the board, and as president over the years.  He was a very giving man and had donated over 13 gallons of blood.  Bruce always enjoyed a good joke, whether telling a story or listening to his friend’s jokes, he never knew a stranger.  Bruce loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

 

His family includes his wife Sharon; daughter Kristen Kay (Kit) Hovey; son Matthew Bruce (Laura) Perry; grandchildren:  Austin (Jamie), Brandon (Andrea), Allison, Marlow, Bryanna (Jason), Duncan (Tiffany), and Adam; honorary grandchildren:  Owen, Marina, Marissa, Becca, Emily, Olivia, Justin, Leah, Kade (Brittney), and Isaac; great-grandchildren Zoella, Khian and Joey; brother-in-law Larry (Sherrie) Madden; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and their husbands:  Elaine (Jack) Wilson, and Sherry (Morris) Mercer; brother and his wife William J. (Helene) Perry.

 

The family has designated donations to go to the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ Scholarship fund.
