J C Spitler, 93, of Webster City, died September 22, 2011 at Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa. Funeral Service will be held Boman Funeral Home in Webster City on Monday September 26, 2011 @ 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at 12:30 until service time at Boman Funeral Home.
J C was born June 21, 1918 son of John M. & Freda (Kruse) Spitler in Parkersburg, IA. On September 28, 1940 he and Delma M. (Johnson) Wilson were married in Princeton, MO. On November 10, 1942, he entered the United States Army. J C served with Company A 22nd Tank Battalion 11th Armored Division until he was honorably discharged on December 4, 1945. After returning home J C & Delma made their home in Webster City where he worked for McMurray Hatchery until 1953. J C owned & operated Jay’s Floor Service & Sales until his retirement.
He was a 66 year member of the American Legion & was bingo secretary for the Kamrar Lions Club for many years. After retirement he enjoyed gardening and selling his home-grown vegetables.
His family includes: son Dennis J. (Donna) Spitler of Brandon, SD; granddaughters Shelly Bednar & Teri Van Den Top; step-son Larry L. (Gayle) Wilson Sr. of Somer, IA; step-grandchildren Shari Gulliams, Tammy Binkley, Larry Wilson Jr., Timothy Wilson, David Wilson & Ellen Millard; several great grandchildren; sister Kathryn McCollough of Placerville, CA & special neighbors Mike & Dori Segar.
He was preceded in death by: his wife in 1998; parents; brothers Norman, Harry & Gene; sister Marie Turpin & step-grandson Robbie Wilson. Memorial will be directed to Webster City Meals on Wheels.
