Joan Schnell

Joan Schnell, 84, of Webster City, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at VanDiest Medical Center, in Webster City, IA. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com). Funeral Service will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 11th at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Terry Davenport officiating.

Joan was born on December 25, 1937, in Sherrard, IL to Glen and Bernice (Christenson) Short. She married Franklin Paul Schnell on September 20, 1957, at First Baptist Church in Webster City. Joan was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the family until youngest daughter Robin was in high school, when she started working a Marino’s Café in NE Minneapolis. The couple moved to Webster City, IA after Franklin retired, and for a short time she worked for CleanAll of Fort Dodge.

Joan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She spent her free time doing crossword puzzles, reading her bible, and watching the game show network. Above all her focus and joy was her family.

Joan’s family includes her children: Holly Draeger of Webster City, Frank (Linda Hoff) Schnell, of Fredric, WI, Brad Schnell of Minneapolis, MN, and Robin Campeau of Webster City, IA; grandchildren: Linda Steeves, Angie & Jeff Crick, Brian & Erica Draeger, Lance Draeger, Kyle & Lindsey Draeger, Tara & Leonard Fortune, Nicole & Josh Bastyr, Diane Schnell, Josh & Elissa Schnell, Adam (Avis Pruismann) Schnell, Jason Campeau, Johnathan Campeau, Joey Campeau, Stacie Joslin, Jennifer (Kendall Keenan) Campeau; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Bill & Angie Short, and Lonnie & Kelly Short; sisters-in-law: Marsha Dayton and Ruth Norris; brother-in-law Melvin Schnell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; daughter-in-law Ruth Schnell; son’s-in-law: George Draeger, and Bill Campeau; sisters: Bev Chalfant, and Pat Campeau; brother Glen R. Short
