John William Parrish, 82, of Webster City, IA, died Wednesday March 14, 2012 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.
A funeral service will be Saturday, March 17 at 1:00 PM at Boman Funeral Home in Webster City. Visitation will be Friday with the family present at Boman Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA. Boman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He was born on August 27, 1929 to Robert & Bessie (Thompson) Parrish near Woolstock, IA. John graduated from Woolstock High School in 1947. He and Helen Arvilla Fisher were married in 1949, she died in 1985. He entered the US Army on July 10 1951. John was honorable discharged on July 9, 1959 from the Iowa Army Reserve. John was owner & manager of Mid-Iowa Auto Parts in Webster City. He was the owner of Johnny’s 66 in Webster City. John was employed at Webster City Iron & Medal before becoming a co-owner in Tots & Treasures in Webster City. John enjoyed working at the store and going to auctions.
Survivors include: his best friend and companion of 25 years, June Espinoza; daughter Janet Parrish; son Jack (Laura) Parrish; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren all of Webster City; two sisters Gloria (Don) Bell of Norwalk, IA & Zola Askland of Duncombe, IA; brother Stan (Cheryl) Parrish of Webster City & several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son (Dennis), infant sister (Linda Lee) & sister (Zelda Reif).
