Katie Talbot

Katie Talbot, 53, died at 1:58 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with Stage 4 breast cancer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com), with a scripture service beginning at 3:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 11, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with a lunch to follow.

Katie was born on October 28, 1971, in Ames, Iowa, to James and Mary (Loughlin) Talbot. Her family moved to Webster City in 1981, where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas and Webster City public schools. She later earned her bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University.

Katie dedicated many years to helping others as a substance abuse counselor, impacting countless lives through her work. Most recently, she worked for iJAG, where she guided students in developing work and life readiness skills with compassion and insight.

Katie’s greatest joys in life were her daughter, her beloved pets, and cruising down the highway with the windows down. She loved traveling—especially to the ocean—and embraced life with a spunky, sarcastic, and deeply loving spirit. Her quick wit and dark humor were unforgettable trademarks of who she was.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Hillary (Kyle) Eide; granddaughter Kierra Eide; grand dog Banjo; parents, Mary and Jim Talbot; brother Jay Talbot; furry companions Charlie and Jimmy; and bonus son Landon McKenney. She was preceded in death by her aunt Claire McDonnell; uncle George Loughlin; and cherished pets Jack, Gracie, and Homer.
