Kay Yvonne Johnson, 85 of Webster City, died on Sunday, August 27, 2023, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) in Webster City, from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM.  The family requests that you come dressed comfortably and casual .

 

Kay was born on January 6, 1938, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Glen and Florence (Christensen) Baker.  Kay dedicated much of her career to Northwestern Bell in Iowa, Over the years, she served in various capacities, culminating in setting up the 911 service.

 

On July 9, 1977, Kay married Darrell J. Johnson, in Webster City, IA.  She enjoyed showing and grooming Schnauzers, a highlight for her was going to the Westminster Dog Show in New York.  In addition to that she made quilts and baby blankets for friends and family.  She also enjoyed gardening and trying new recipes to cook.  The family liked to vacation by renting cabins on Lake Jefferson in Minnesota. Kay and Darrell spent time fishing for small mouth bass in the Boone River.  She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

 

Kay is survived by her husband Darrell; children:  Randy (Joyce) Traver of Climbing Hills, IA, Debra (Doug) Nelson of Webster City, IA, Vicky (Lew) Calvas, of Kearney, MO and Brad Johnson of Webster City, IA; grandchildren:  Grant, Lauren, Nicolle, Aric, Kaylin, Tanya, and Patrick; 21 great-grandchildren; and brother Gordon (Kay) Baker, of Bend, OR.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
