Kermit Klaas Klaver, 90, of Story City, Iowa was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Community Church of Kamrar,on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30AM on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Community Church of Kamrar. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Kermit was born March 13, 1931, on the “home place” of Pete and Marie Klaver, southeast of Kamrar.
He graduated from Kamrar high school in 1948 and was drafted into the Army at age 22. Kermit married Arlene King on September 12, 1954. He began farming in Hamilton County and continued farming for more than 50 years. He married Charlotte (Borland) Hoy on June 24, 1995, and moved to Story City shortly thereafter.
Kermit was a lifelong farmer, getting daily farm reports until the last day of his life. He was a very active member of Gideons International for more than 50 years and held many offices, including state president. Kermit took joy in attending state and international Gideon conventions.
He most recently attended Heartland Baptist Church in Ames and was a devoted Christian, as well as a man of great faith.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Charlotte Klaver; his sister, Orpha (Jerry) Holm; his 4 daughters, Joy Smiley, Julie (Bernhard) Steiert, Karen (Jeff) Hall, Karleen (Brad) Carlson; his 7 step-children, Sharyl (Jeff) Dilling, Julia (Dan) Randall, Tom (Anne) Allenstein, Linda Hoy, Marvin (Linda) Hoy, Alan (Sandy) Hoy, Sandra (Duane) Kellogg; his 29 grandchildren; his 40 great-grandchildren; and his 3 great-great grandchildren.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Marie Klaver; his wife, Arlene Klaver; his step-son, Terry Hoy; and his infant sister.
