Leo Russell Cutshall passed into eternity on Monday, August 2, 2010, at Hamilton Hospital, Webster City, Iowa. He was 89 years old and resided at Southfield Wellness Community.
Leo was born to John and Ida (Green) Cutshall on a farm west of De Soto, Iowa on June 23, 1921. During his high school years, the family moved to a farm near Ventura, Iowa. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball during his high school years and also played the drums. Leo graduated from Ventura High School in 1941. He farmed in the Garner and Klemme, Iowa area. He later engaged in farming south of Allison.
He married Ruby Mae Hochstetler on October 11, 1955, near Wellman, IA. Ruby and he raised their children and enjoyed life on the family farm near Allison. They relocated to Webster City upon retiring in 1998.
Leo is survived by his wife, Ruby, and five children: Joe (Sandy) of Ida Grove, Iowa, Ruth Steig (Roger) of Webster City, Laura Norman (Jim) of Clinton, IA, Steve (Ann) of Allison, Iowa, and Susan Eberly (Scott) of Coralville, Iowa. Grandchildren include Meg, Aaron, Leah, and Amy Cutshall, Ryan, Reginald, Rachel, and Rebecca Steig, Emily, Kyle, Lindsey, and Molly Norman, Alexander, Rubanna, Maryann, and John Cutshall, and Quinten and Cole Eberly. Other survivors include a sister-in law, Leta Cutshall of Britt, Iowa.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Homer and Forest, sisters Emma and Susie, infant brother Alfred, son David and granddaughter Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 AM with Reverend Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be at the Butler Center Cemetery near Allison, Iowa. Arrangements were made with the Boman Funeral Home.
