LeRoy Gene Peck, 85, of Webster City, IA died on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) in Webster City. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Anchor Point church in Webster City.
LeRoy was born on July 23, 1941, in Webster City to John and Eveline (Meyering) Peck. He graduated from the Webster City High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Sherry Smith on August 13, 1961, beginning a wonderful journey together that spanned 65 years.
A man of remarkable work ethic, service, and entrepreneurial spirit, his life and career spanned many communities and industries. He began working in retail business with F.W. Woolworth. Over the years, his enterprising drive led him to purchase and operate Ben Franklin stores in Vinton, IA, and Missouri Valley, IA. He served his community on the Missouri Valley Ambulance & fire Crew for five years and operated a motel and laundromat in Bellevue, NE.
His journey then took him to Blairsburg, where he farmed with Sherry's parents for three years. Moving to Leon, IA, he farmed for ten years and earned his Real Estate Broker License, later opening Peck’s Family Center & Variety Store. After returning to Northern Iowa, he ran his own consulting business. Following a year in Harvey, ND in 1992, he returned to Blairsburg where he farmed for another three years before settling in Webster City. Never one to slow down, he purchased rental properties, founded a medical supply delivery company for the Office of the State Medical Examiner, and opened the Dollar Stretcher store in Webster City.
Above all, LeRoy cherished the time he spent with his family. Some of his favorite memories were made on family fishing trips and deer hunting with the "boys." He took great pride in passing his knowledge and values on to his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to hunt, fish, and develop an entrepreneurial spirit. His love for the outdoors, hard work, and family traditions will continue to live on through those he taught and inspired.
He is survived by his wife Sherry; his children: Ken (Kristy) Peck of Liberty, MO, Kris (Todd) Mickelson, of Humboldt, IA, and Kraig Peck (Jodi Hill) of Greenville, SC; 8 grandchildren: Colton (Bailey) Peck, and their children Elijah & Asher, Ashley (Mike) Atkins and their children, Whitley, Waylon, & Walker, Aaron Mickelson, Adam (Hannah) Mickelson and their daughter Rhyan, Brandon (Samantha)Peck, Hunter Peck, Chase Peck and Madelyn Peck; sisters: Shirley (John) Hall and Lavonne Kizzier. He was preceded in death by his sister Janice Myers.
