Luanne Baker

Luanne Baker, 89, of Webster City, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Van Diest Medical Center. A Visitation will be held at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com), in Webster City from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM

Luanne was born on January 5, 1937, in Granton, Wisconsin, to Otto and Flossie (Davis) Schmidtke. She was united in marriage to Ralph Baker, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage and travel until his passing in 1998.

Throughout her career, Luanne worked as an administrative assistant in the manufacturing and warehouse industry. She had a heart for service and dedicated much of her life to helping others, regularly volunteering with hospice, visiting the elderly, and organizing group bank trips. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting.

Luanne’s family includes her daughter Karen Waldron; grandson Scott (Lauren) Spangler, of Texas; sister Lola Brown of Lake Forest, IL; and several cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; son Alan Spangler; brother Algene Schmidtke; and two sisters: Bonnie Degenhardt and Rita Adler.
