Randi Jans-Masek

Randi Gayle Jans-Masek, 64, died on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 PM On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Kamrar Community Church in Kamrar, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Randi was born on December 6, 1957, in Webster City, IA to James and Shirley (Capsel) Jans. She graduated from Northeast Hamilton Community School in 1976, she then attended St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. Randi worked as a nurse in Florida for a few years, then returned to Iowa to work for 30 plus years at the Hamilton County Hospital, Iowa Specialty Hospital, and Mary Greeley/Israel House in Ames. Randi spent most of her years adding people into their famiies and then helping them say goodbye. She married Edward Masek on January 6, 2000, at the Community Church of Kamrar.

Randi loved animals, especially miniature horses, and at one time had 14. She had a passion for the Hawkeyes. Randi enjoyed trips with Ed to Florida, Mt. Rushmore, and just road trips. She enjoyed family time, from sporting bleachers to bingo with Steven to time with Nolan, that was when she enjoyed life the most. She was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar in Kamrar Iowa.

Those left to cherish her life are: her husband of 22 years; children: Brooke (Ty) Klingbeil of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Dustin (Amanda) Masek, of Columbus, NE; four grandchildren: Owen, Archer & Rayden Masek and Nolan Klingbeil; sister Jill (Tim) Scott of Kamrar, Iowa; brother Steven Jans of Webster City; Sister-in-law Marcey (Mark) Jensen of Atkins; brother-in-law Brett (Christina) Masek, of Decorah, IA; Nieces & nephews: Ashley (Jody) Soma, of Story City, Barry (Sarah) Scott of Ackley, Iowa, Blake (Alex) Renaud of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Aubreya (Kenny) Matteson, of Newhall, Iowa, Miranda (Jamie) Sonka, of Newhall, IA, Jesse (Heidi) Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Kyle Masek, of Decorah, IA and Rachel (Mike Meyers) Masek of Decorah, IA; great nieces and nephews: Piper, Brody, Kaity, Joey, Eli, Colette, Grayson, Natalie, Maleah, Baily, Cole, Madison, Kaylee and Noah. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Larry.
