Randy Greenfield

Randy Greenfield, 67, of Kamrar, Iowa, died at his home on Sunday, February 4th, 2024 after a six-month battle with ALS.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Community Church of Kamrar.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 9th, at the Community Church of Kamrar. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

Randy Roy Greenfield was born on March 11th, 1956, in Story City, Iowa to Roy and Bonnie (Irving) Greenfield.  He attended the Kamrar Elementary School and graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in 1974. Randy asked out Sally Rigter for their first date on September 22nd, 1973, and they were married on  January 7th, 1978 at the Williams United Methodist Church. 

Randy started farming as a junior in high school and was proud to have completed his 50th harvest on the family farm this past fall. 

Randy was a member of the Kamrar Lions Club and the Community Church of Kamrar. He enjoyed drinking coffee at the Jewell elevator several times a day and attending his sons’ and grandsons’ many activities and sporting events. He was always up for tractor rides and Nerf gun wars with his grandchildren. There wasn’t a trivia question that he didn’t know the answer to, and he was well versed in politics, war history, and rock and roll. Randy and Sally enjoyed attending concerts and listening to good music on the deck. 

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Bonnie, grandparents James S. and Bertha Greenfield, Charles and Freda Irving, and several aunts and uncles. His family includes his wife of 46 years, Sally; sons:  Dan (Jessica) of Story City, Ben of Kamrar, and David (Brittany) of Ames; grandchildren: Wyatt (9), Waylon (7), Kasen (5), Kenzlee (1), and a baby boy in the spring; Siblings: Rhonda (Mark) Fiscus of Ames, Lisa (Tim) Robson of Portland, Oregon, Jim (Phyllis) Greenfield of Williams, and Troy (Tammy) Greenfield of Webster City; many nieces and nephews, several aunts and an uncle.
