Sandra Sue Ratcliff of Webster City died on Thursday, January 12, 2017, in Ames, Iowa. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, January 17, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Boman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 10:00 AM at the Webster City Church of Christ. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Sandi was born on February 2, 1958, to Earl Lee and Donna Jean (Robb) Abbott in Webster City, Iowa. She attended the Webster City Schools, graduating in 1976. Sandi married Bruce Ratcliff on April 23, 1977, at the Webster City Church of Christ. She was employed at Modern Farm Systems until she became a stay at home mom. In 1987 she started working at the USDA Farm Service Agency, retiring on July 31, 2013.
Sandi was a member of the Hamilton County Hospital Auxiliary and the Hamilton County Military Support Group. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets to give to family and friends, card games, and baking. Sandi also enjoyed family vacations, especially traveling to the ocean. She used her “green thumb” to raise plants both inside and outdoors. Most of all Sandi loved her family and time spent with them.
Her family included her husband of 39 years, Bruce; daughter Jessica (Jay) Livingston of Waukee; son Joshua (Jennifer) Ratcliff of Ankeny and their three children Jacob Earl, Joel and Corbin; four siblings: Jan (Bob) Moen, Charlie (Sandi) Abbott, Diane (Butch) Weber, and Chip (Jackie) Abbott, all of Webster City; 14 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
