Shirley Jans

Shirley Jean Jans, 75 of Kamrar, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at her home.

A visitation will be held at the Community Church of Kamrar on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.  Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the church with Pastor Peter Mueller  officiating.  Boman Funeral Home of Webster City is caring for the family.

She was born on December 13, 1936 in Eagle Grove, IA to Earl & Ethel (Loux) Capsel.  She attended the Eagle Grove Schools.  Shirley married James Jans on May 24, 1957 in Webster City.  The couple lived in Kamrar where they farmed.  She was a homemaker, helped her husband farm and worked as a substitute lunch server. She owned and operated Steve’s Place in Kamrar.  Shirley was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar.
 Shirley enjoyed her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren’s activities and events.  Her love of cooking and baking was known by all.  She enjoyed sporting events, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. 

Her family includes her husband of 55 years, Jim; children:  Randi & Ed Masek, Jill & Tim Scott & Steven all of Kamrar; her grandchildren:  Ashley & Jody Soma of Gilbert, Barry & Sarah Scott of Ackley, Blake & Alex Renaud of Williams; step grandchildren:  Brooke Masek of Cedar Rapids, Dustin & Amanda Masek of Norfolk, NE; great grandchildren:  Piper & Brody Soma, Elijah Renaud, Owen & Archer Masek.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Larry Dean in 1960; several sisters and brothers.
