Verna Mae Hildebrand

Verna Mae (Terry) Hildebrand, 84, of Stratford, Iowa, (formerly of Douglas, Wyoming) died May 11, 2011 at The Stratford Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center, Stratford, Iowa.  Her Funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 3pm, at First Baptist Church, Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Fred Dyer officiating.  Visitation is Wednesday, May 25th, from 1 to 3pm at First Baptist.  Internment will be at Douglas Park Cemetery, in Douglas, Wyoming. Memorials can be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, 1424 Griffith Way, Douglas, WY 82633-2377  or The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.  A memorial service for Verna will take place Tuesday, May 31st, 7pm at First Baptist Church, Stratford, Iowa.
Verna Mae was born March 27, 1927 in Douglas, Wyoming to Cornelius (Neil) and Emma Mae Terry.  Verna Mae was raised on a farm outside of Douglas.  She attended school at North Grade Elementary School and graduated from Douglas High School.  Verna Mae attended the University of Wyoming and received her Teacher’s Certificate, teaching country school for one year before she was married.  Verna Mae married Donald Hildebrand on October 2nd of 1948 in Douglas.  Verna Mae and Donald ranched from 1948 till Don’s death in 1972.  During their married life they raised four daughters.  Verna Mae then moved to Douglas in 1973 and did “in home care” for 2 years for Peg Leonard then worked 17 ½ years for the Converse County Hospital before retirement.  She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Douglas.  She was a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ having committed her life to Him at age 16.  With all the complications of fighting cancer, she responded in kindness to those around her and remained faithful and steadfast in her faith in Jesus Christ her Savior and Lord.   Her legacy fulfills the desire of her heart with four daughters and their spouses following Christ as Savior, five married grandchildren and their spouses following Christ as Savior, and 3 unmarried grandchildren following Christ as Savior.
Survivors include her children, Janice Fendley (Mike) of Stratford, Iowa: Donna Koenig (Charlie) of Cove, Oregon; Teresa Leonard (Ken) of Phoenix, Arizona; and Sharolyn Moffit (Jim – 2010) Kent, Washington; grand children, Brenda Johnston (Tim) of Sacramento, CA, and Craig Fendley (Christal) of Bettendorf, Iowa; Johann Koenig (Tatyana) of Anchorage, Alaska; Pam Polischuk (Dennis) of Rockford, Michigan and Lyndon Leonard (Kathleen) of Chandler, Arizona; Jimmy, TK, and Isaac Moffit of Kent, Washington;  and great grand children Paige, Faith, and Seth Johnston and Vallarie, Nicolas, and Zachary Fendley; Sheliese and Rachelle Koenig; Nina and Alek Polischuk and Kendra Leonard.  Verna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Helen (Terry) Wilson and Clara Belle Terry, and brothers Donald and Mark Terry.
